Marjorie Wood Hamlin at the International Florence Biennale
I have received the honor of being one of the artists to represent the United States in the 8th edition of the International Biennale Contemporary Art taking place in Florence Italy December 3rd to the 11th, 2011. The Biennale is organized under European Parliament recognition and the Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic with the official endorsement of the Ministry of Culture, the region of Tuscany and the Province and City of Florence. The United Nations recognizes the Biennale as an official partner in their program "Dialog Among Civilizations". Art opens doors to understanding among countries and fights ignorance and hatred. It opens doors to learning and understanding.
At the 7th edition there were 700 artists from 70 countries. Some past famous artists participating have been David Hockney, Christo and Jeff Koons.
I will be showing my copper and gold foil work enhanced with 23K gold leaf to see how it plays on an international stage located in the birthplace and center of the Renaissance.
